Conseil canadien de développement social (CCDS) en partenariat avec Statistique Canada qui ont formé un consortium d'achat de données pour le secteur civique au niveau de la communauté ou la ville. Malgré de bonnes intentions, les données trop dispendieuses pour les ONGs et
'l'accès aux données est exclusif aux membres du consortium'. Les membres du consortium sont : le Conseil de planification sociale d'Ottawa, Peterborough Social Planning Council, Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton, Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi de Côte-des-Neiges, les villes de Calgary et Red Deer, les régions de Peel e York et le comté de Simcoe. Les membres du projet sur la pauvreté urbaine inclus les régions Waterloo, Halton, les municipalités de London, Edmonton, et Toronto ainsi que United Way of the Lower Mainland. It est possible que la CCDS contine ce projet pour le prochain recensement. / The

SPNO-GANIS (The Social Planning Network of Ontario Geographical and Numeric Information Systems)' is a working group of social researchers and community developers who keep their communities informed on social policy issues for planning purposes. For the past few censuses GANIS has developed data purchasing consortia agreements, collect data from/with community organizations and city/municipal governments. A Trillium Foundation Grant enabled the purchase of GIS to make community maps. Data compilation, analytical and mapping services in newsletters, reports, presentations and on a sliding fee scale to cover particular project cost. They would happily give the raw data away but agreements with statistical agencies prevent them from doing so.
